GRAYMOOR:
THE HOLY MOUNTAIN

Servant of God, Fr. Paul Wattson, SA:
Still welcoming all, and helping them find peace through “At-One-Ment”
Part of the Hudson River Valley community for 120 years, Graymoor is a place of pilgrimage, rest, and inspiration. The home of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, a community of Catholic religious brothers and priests, everyone is welcome to visit, reflect, and “come away for awhile” (Mark 6:31) to encounter the Spirit of God.

PRAY & REFLECT

Graymoor, affectionately known as the Holy Mountain, is a place set apart for prayer and meditation, overlooking the Hudson River. Located on the Appalachian trail, retreatants and day visitors have the opportunity to take in the beauty of the Hudson River Valley while spending time reconnecting with God.

There are a number of sites popular with visitors, including a Shrine to St. Anthony, a 9-11 Memorial, and the Chapel of Our Lady of Atonement. Find out more about all that Graymoor has to offer.

ATTEND A RETREAT
The Graymoor Spiritual Life Center hosts retreats and single-day events that promote the health of mind, body, and soul. Whether you are a busy professional in search of a spiritual recharge or a Senior looking for community and spiritual nourishment, the Friars invite you to visit Graymoor.

Discover full weekend retreats open to men and women of all faith traditions; retreats that focus on the road to recovery from addiction; and mini-retreats that take place on Saturdays throughout the year.

VISIT ST. ANTHONY SHRINE AT GRAYMOOR

Fr. Paul always dreamed of a St. Anthony National Shrine at Graymoor. In 1960, the largest outdoor shrine to St. Anthony was dedicated. Over two stories high, the Shrine includes a large marble statue of St. Anthony holding the child Jesus. Each year thousands of pilgrims travel to Graymoor to pay tribute at the St. Anthony Shrine. They come to pray, to light a candle, to seek St. Anthony’s intercession and to say thank you for favors granted.

PARTICIPATE IN ECUMENISM & INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE

The Friars have a long history of cultivating dialogue between a number of Christian denominations as well as with other faiths. Following in the tradition of Fr. Paul of Graymoor, our Founder, we believe that increasing knowledge and understanding of other faith traditions will lead towards reconciliation and unity.

Are you a young adult facing a major fork in the road? Unsure about your next step professionally, personally, or spiritually? The Friars offer opportunities for young men and women to spend time in reflection and prayer as they discern how God might be calling them to live life more abundantly.

In addition, young men discerning religious life, and the Franciscan charism specifically, are welcome to come and learn more about life as a Franciscan Friar.
